Dropbox: Save and Share Files

Dropbox is a free, cloud-based storage iPad application which is helpful both saving and sharing a variety of different files. The iPad does not have a “file system” (like “My Computer” on a Windows PC or the “Finder” on an Apple computer) for saving files. How can you save files from email messages on your iPad? How can you efficiently share and organize documents from your desktop or laptop PC and your iPad? DropBox provides a good solution to these challenges. With the Dropbox iPad app you can:

  1. Save files from email to a specific folder in your Dropbox account for later access on a PC
  2. Open files you saved in your Dropbox account from a PC
  3. Share files in a “public” folder on your Dropbox with others
  4. Organize your saved files into folders like you would on a desktop/laptop computer’s file system

Currently (as of January 2012) DropBox provides all users with 2 GB of free storage space. If you need more, you can register for another free DropBox account (using a different email address) or pay for a commercial account. Pricing is available for individual Dropbox accounts as well as business accounts.

Dropbox is an essential application for personal and business productivity on the iPad.
